OUR LEARNERS

Who are our learners?

Our learners are adults not currently enrolled in school, and are a mix of English-speaking immigrant, Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadian individuals, with varying literacy levels and learning goals.
Many learners are women and men working hard to re-enter the workforce or improve their employment conditions through upgrading of their basic skills.
Other learners are: upgrading so they can enter high school studies at an adult learning centre, studying to get their GED, or preparing to move on to community college.
Still others are seeking to improve their skills for personal reasons, such as being able to read to their children, write letters to family, read about their hobbies or to be able to access the wealth of information on the Internet.
The oldest learner we've ever had was 77. Our youngest is 20.

These are the steps:
Call this phone number: (204) 784-5502

  • When you phone we will ask you a few questions.
  • We will set a date to meet to talk about what you can do now and what you need help with.
  • Together we decide if our classes are a fit for you.
  • If classes are the answer, our staff will outline the hours and the expectations. We offer part-time instruction, morning or afternoon classes on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays, from September until June.
