We watched a presentation and then participated in a workshop where we mapped a region of an imaginary planet using “remote sensing” techniques. Thank you to our amazing facilitator @manitobamuseum. On Tuesday, December 20th, we went to the @osfwin On Tuesday, December 20th, we went to the @osfwin for lunch. It was attended by the learners, staff and board members. It was a fun afternoon filled with games, great food and lots of laughter. 

Thank you to staff at the Old Spaghetti Factory who were so efficient, patient and kind. They provided us with the space we needed to play our games and the hampers. 😊
For the 4th year, the learners at LiteracyWorks re For the 4th year, the learners at LiteracyWorks received a food hamper of some fresh foods, pantry staples, hygiene products and warm socks/hand warmers. The learners were very appreciative for this very generous donation. They also received a card from all the contributors of the hamper which included seasons greetings and a motivational message encouraging their continued learning.
To complete our theme on Aviation, the learners ex To complete our theme on Aviation, the learners experimented with paper airplanes. They made five paper airplanes using the exact same design, but different size papers. They made some predictions and then "flew" their planes to see if they were true. Some planes acted like a boomerang and flew back to them, but many flew quite a distance. The farthest plane flew 40 feet! It was a fun day with a lot of learning and laughter.
On October 22, the staff and learners went on a to On October 22, the staff and learners went on a tour of the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada. It was the first time many had been to the museum. The learners enjoyed seeing all the different types of aircrafts and boarding the old Air Canada plane. Our tour guide Fred was so knowledgeable about the planes and history of aviation in western Canada, especially the north. Thank you @royalaviationmuseumofwc

Welcome back LiteracyWORKS Learners! First day ba Welcome back LiteracyWORKS Learners!  First day back in person since March! We are physically distancing, wearing our masks and ready to learn!!
LiteracyWorks offices are closed for the summer mo LiteracyWorks offices are closed for the summer months beginning June 30, 2020.  We will be returning Tuesday Sept. 8, 2020. 

Classes for the new school year begin Tuesday Sept. 22, 2020 We will be registering new students from Wednesday Sept. 9, 2020 to Thursday Sept. 17, 2020. 

If you are interested in joining our program please call 204 784 5502 to set up an intake appointment.  Messages will be checked throughout July and August.

LiteracyWORKS will reopen for our 2020/2021 school LiteracyWORKS will reopen for our 2020/2021 school year on Tuesday Sept. 22, 2020. Our classroom will be set up to allow for physical distancing to keep everyone safe and healthy.  We look forward to seeing everyone again in September.
